PRIVATE COOKING WORKSHOP IN NORTH ICELAND
FAMILY FRIENDLY HANDS-ON COOKING WORKSHOP
Join us in the kitchen to prepare an honest Icelandic country style meal with fresh local ingredients. Private hands-on cooking lessions under supervision of the host at Áskaffi Góðgæti, who has a long experience of catering and running a local restaurant.
A perfect activity with your friends and family. Afterwards you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the fruits of your labour in a relaxing atmosphere.
As a part of the experience the host will walk you to the old farm, a typical Skagafjordur farmstead where history breathes from every corner.
Áskaffi Góðgæti is located at Hedinsminni, on the ring road in the Skagafjordur district. Only 60 min drive from the town Akureyri and 6 minutus from Varmahlíð.
This easy going private workshop is a perfect choice for families and foodies and everyone who is interested in participate in a hands-on local experience.
Duration: 3 hours.
Group size: Private group. Maximum 10 people
Location: Áskaffi Góðgæti at Hedinsminni, a charming community center and a former children school, on the ring road in the Skagafjordur district. Only 60 min drive to the west from Akureyri, North Iceland.
Pickup: from Akureyri or Skagafjordur region can be booked separately. Please contact us by sending an email.
What to wear: This is an indoor activity. For safety reasons, we advise the use of closed-toed, comfortable shoes.
Included: Personal instructions by the experienced host. Country-style meal, use of apron, complimentary recipe folder. Stories about local everyday life in the past and the present.
The food: As meat, fish and dairy products are an important part of the Icelandic diet, these food types are prominent in the food offered. However, vegetarian options are possible upon request.
Participants are responsible for taking care of any allergies or food intolerance they may have. Please send e-mail with your specifications at least 24 h in advance and we will do our best to meet your needs.

Askaffi Góðgæti at Héðinsminni is located approximately 88 km (55 miles) from Akureyri and only 8 km ( 5 miles) from Varmahlíð.
Take the turn-off toward Stóru-Akrar (approx. 500 m). There is good parking space and access to the building.
