DIP & DINE - LAUGARÁS LAGOON
INTRIGUING EXPERIENCE OF CRAFTED WOOL DYING, LOCAL FOOD, AND CALMING GEOTHERMAL BATH
RELAXING OUTDOOR GEOTHERMAL POOL, INFORMATIVE VISIT TO A WOOL DYE STUDIO, AND DELICIOUS MEAL
In the cold and unpredictable climate of Iceland, the local people have developed at least two ways to survive: Soak in a warm water of a geothermal pool and make use of woolen clothes!! This tour offers simultaneously energizing and serene experience of outdoor bathing and educative stop at a plant dye studio where we take a look in the dye pots and learn about the old craft of dyeing and making wool products. Of course we finish the tour with a delicious local meal.
The cultural value of Icelandic bathing and swimming pool culture is significant and has been a part of the local daily life for centuries. It is here where all generations, people of all shapes and sizes, come together to swim, exercise, and relax in comfortable temperature of soothing geothermal water. Bathing in the mineralrich geothermal water offers a range of wellbeing benefits such as relaxation of muscles and joints, improved blood circulation, and stress relief.
In our Dip & Dine experiences we choose to visit smaller lagoons to enjoy the authentic Icelandic bathing culture. Laugarás Lagoon, one of the newest member of various geothermal pools in Iceland, is not too big, but still offers distincts areas with their own character. It features cascading waterfall, unique views over the banks of Hvítá river, a calming Forest Pool, two saunas and a cold pool for a refreshing plunge.
To complete the experience we’ll enjoy a delightful meal from the local restaurant offering seasonal menu with ingredients sourced from local farms, fisheries and geothermal greenhouses.
