Join us on a tour to the Hidden World, an easy and family-friendly tour that takes you to the homesites of the hidden people and other mystical creatures: Fairies, Gnomes, and Trolls, just to name a few.

Folklore about the hidden world is well known to Icelanders, as these stories are part of everyone’s upbringing. The hidden people of Iceland are also called elves. They are highly private, remaining invisible unless they choose to be seen, with the exception of certain occasions like New Year’s Eve, when they go out dancing and at the summer solstice, when they're said to move homes. The elves are believed to be handsome, kind and generous. However, you better not offend them or make them angry!

Other creatures, such as gnomes, fairies and trolls, make up the hidden world together with the elves, as described to us by sightful individuals.

The local respect and appreciation of the hidden power of nature can perhaps been explained such that the stories are told by people living in a close contact with roaring volcanos and abundant natural resources, making respect for nature a common sense. You’ll find out more about this from our gifted story-teller during a short visit to the magical hidden world, situated in the picturesque town of Hafnarfjordur.

Your guide meets you at your accommodation and brings you with a minivan along known "Elf homes" in the capital area before the short Hidden World hike starts in the town Hafnarfjördur (just 15 min by car from Reykjavik), renowned for having one of Iceland's largest colonies of elves, dwarves and other spiritual beings. Centuries-old folklore says that whole families of these beings live in the rocks that are part of the town's centre, and who are we to doubt that!!
